If you need to share files with a friend or colleague, you can share them with Google Drive. The service has 15GB of free storage. However, it’s important to make sure that you get the correct permissions before sharing files.
The first step is to go to the Gmail website and log in. Once logged in, click the Google Drive icon at the bottom of the screen. This will bring up the Share with people and groups tab. Select the people you want to add and their email addresses.
Next, choose whether you want to allow anyone to view or edit the file. You can also set a commenter status. Lastly, you can decide whether the recipient can leave a comment.
After selecting your people, you can create an email message with the link. Your recipients can open the document by clicking on the link. They can also attach an image or any other file.
Choosing a restricted link means that only the people you want to view the file can do so. Alternatively, you can select “anyone with this link” and allow any viewers to view the document.
To create a bookmark, you can copy the URL from the document you’re sharing and paste it into the URL bar. This will open the original window and enable you to paste it into an email or other text-based application.
Whether you are sending a large file or a short note, using a URL will save you time. Also, a URL can overcome attachment size limits.
